Construction has just started on a new house that we designed outside of Portland, Oregon on the Clackamas River. The first floor framing is complete, and second floor should be well underway. It is an amazing site in Gladstone; on a wedge of land between the river (i.e. flood plain), the railroad tracks and I-205. The owners purchased the property for the land, not the abandoned house on the lot. They even offered the existing house as a training burn for the Gladstone Fire Department, who gladly took them up on the offer. Our clients have a modern aesthetic and our design will carefully address the sound and visual issues of trains, highways and rivers. With our client being an avid fisherman, let’s just say, it’s all about the river.
